At Florida Good Dogs, we believe transparency and education are key to successful, lifelong adoptions. This page answers some of the most common questions we receive about our dogs, adoption process, training support, and policies.

 All classes are provided by East Coast K9 LLC in North Port, Florida. Classes are currently offered twice per month, with plans to add additional sessions as interest and enrollment grow. For adopters who are out of state or unable to attend in person, virtual training sessions via Zoom are also available.


We focus on thoughtful matching rather than first‑come placement. Each dog is evaluated based on temperament, age, energy level, training needs, and lifestyle compatibility. We also consider your home environment, experience, and expectations to ensure the placement sets both the dog and your family up for long‑term success.


No. Florida Good Dog prioritizes fit over speed. Submitting an application or applying early does not guarantee adoption. Our goal is to place dogs in homes where they can truly thrive, even if that means taking additional time to find the right match.


Adult dogs six months and older receive basic obedience training, which includes on‑leash obedience and the following commands: sit, down, come, off, place, and heel.

For certain dogs, off‑leash training may also be added based on the dog’s ability, temperament, and readiness. Off‑leash training is optional, and pricing may vary depending on the dog and training needs.

All training and ongoing support are provided through East Coast K9 LLC.


Florida Good Dog is a lifetime safety net for our dogs. If at any point you are unable to keep your dog, the dog must be returned to Florida Good Dog. This ensures dogs are never abandoned, rehomed without support, or placed in unsafe situations.


Most of the dogs in our program come from owner surrenders, where families can no longer keep their dogs due to life changes, housing, or other circumstances. In these cases, our focus is on evaluating the dog’s needs and placing them thoughtfully for long‑term success.

In addition, Florida Good Dog partners with ethical breeders who are looking to place retired show dogs into carefully selected family homes. These dogs are placed with the same standards, training, and lifetime support as all dogs in our program. not guarantee adoption. Our goal is to place dogs in homes where they can truly thrive, even if that means taking additional time to find the right match.
